Located in the charming town of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Homestead Quilting & Fabric has established itself as a go-to destination for quilters in the area.
Recognized as the state’s winner of the Local Quilt Shop contest for two years running, this local treasure is more than just a fabric store — it’s a community hub. With its cheerful atmosphere and an impressive selection of over a thousand bolts of fabric, it’s no wonder quilters flock to this vibrant space.
Community Centered from the Start
At the heart of Homestead Quilting & Fabric is its owner, Michelle Medeiros, who opened the shop with a clear mission: to create a welcoming space where quilters could not only find quality fabrics and supplies, but also connect with one another.
It’s clear that Michelle’s community-centered vision is what makes Homestead a special place for so many.
Quilting had been a part of Michelle’s life since high school, and after seeing many local shops close, she decided to step up and fill the gap. Her efforts paid off, as the store is now a thriving community resource that’s attracting new customers and keeping the quilting spirit alive in Massachusetts.
A Wealth of Knowledge and Education
What truly sets Homestead Quilting & Fabric apart is the wealth of knowledge shared within its walls. The shop offers a variety of classes that appeal to both beginners and experienced quilters alike, helping everyone grow their skills in a supportive environment.
Michelle is joined by an experienced team of instructors: Cheryl is a former Judy Niemeyer-certified instructor and a paper piecing expert who shares those skills with students in periodic workshops. Pat teaches machine embroidery and is their Baby Lock aficionado. Diane can be found teaching a variety of classes. As a fan of quilting history and antique quilts, she’s full of knowledge to share.
Amanda shared, “Michelle and Diane have taken my quilting to a whole other level that I never thought I could get to. The classes they offer are fantastic for any skill level.”
Homestead Quilting & Fabric isn’t just about selling supplies — it’s about fostering a community of quilters who inspire and support each other.
The Local Quilt Shop contest has also helped bring in many new faces, as Michelle mentions that newcomers often express surprise, saying, “We never knew you were here!”
