Small, but mighty
Jennifer’s Quilt Shop (jennifersquiltshop.ca) easily became the Regional Winner for Newfoundland in the 2024 Local Quilt Shop Contest, despite being a brand new store.
In just one year, this cozy shop nestled along the coast near St. John’s, Newfoundland, and at Canada’s easternmost point, opened its doors. Founded by Jennifer Peddle in early 2023, the shop boasts fabrics, notions, a longarm for custom quilting, and classroom space.
Jennifer discovered quilting a few years ago and quickly transitioned from part-time teaching to making it her full-time career. Soon after opening, Jennifer’s Quilt Shop welcomed quilters from across the island.
Building Community
The shop hums with activity, hosting classes and sewing days, creating a cheerful haven for local quilters. Monthly events like “Retreating with Fran & Roxanne” draw enthusiasts who sew from dawn to dusk.
Customers praise Jennifer’s warmth and passion for quilting, evident in her shop’s inviting atmosphere. Visitors and locals alike celebrate the joy of quilting together.
When you visit…
If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Newfoundland, make sure to grab a ferry or short plane ride to Conception Bay South where you can see the sunset over the ocean from nearly anywhere in town.
You might even get lucky enough to catch sight of an iceberg or puffins! Not something that most of us get the chance to see, but for Jennifer and her customers, it’s the norm.
