Things have been buzzing at Rae-Bon, and not just at the sewing machines! Quilting Adventurers has become the go-to program for sewists looking to learn new skills and collect some seriously cute badges while they’re at it.
With 28 badge options (and more on the way), members can earn awards like “Zip It Up,” “Cuddle Up,” or “Come Fly With Me” by trying out different sewing and quilting techniques.
Each month features a new badge and an educational session to match.
The “Bag Maker” badge even led to the epic Great Bag Battle, where creativity took center stage and customer-made bags—pattern-hacked or entirely original—faced off for votes and bragging rights.
The excitement keeps growing as Rae-Bon prepares to celebrate 15 years under Sandy’s ownership this July!
Each day, the team will be hopping onto Facebook Live to revisit big moments and milestones from years past.
Throwback projects include a red door project bag in honor of the 2012 logo switch and a runner reimagined from their 2022 Quilt Sampler feature.
There’s even a spotlight on the longtime partnership with ByAnnie during the July 8 video—featuring the new and improved Ditty Bag 2.0. Every day’s project will be available as a kit so customers can sew along and celebrate, too.
Sew Much More Than Fabric: From Thread to Felted Fun
Youth sewing at Rae-Bon is on a roll. Camps for kids sell out in a flash, and the school-year Youth Sew Saturdays now run two full classes each month, constantly filled.
Grown-up newbies aren’t left behind either.
The Learn to Sew series covers machine basics, cutting skills, and must-make projects like a pillowcase, tote bag, and zippered pouch.
On top of that, the bag clubs continue to be a big hit, especially this year’s “Bags for Organizing,” which features designs from multiple creators including three ByAnnie classics.
The shop itself keeps expanding too. The Shannon Cuddle section now includes more 90″ wide bolts, faux fur, and pillow forms.
There’s been a big boost in bag-making materials, including printed vinyl, leather, cork, and a rainbow of zippers.
Rae-Bon also stitched new handwork options into the mix like needle felting and cross stitch.
Their famous Christmas in July bash is back and merrier than ever with VIP perks, jingle bell prizes, snacks, a felt ornament make-and-take, and the season’s first look at all the festive fabric.
And here’s a notion worth mentioning—Rae-Bon has one of the largest selections of tools, rulers, and thread brands around, surprising even seasoned quilters.
Plus, they’re proud to support 4 Luv of Dog Rescue with ongoing partnerships and fundraisers, including this summer’s Christmas in July event.
