The Old Country Store in Intercourse is the Regional Winner for Pennsylvania!

Read on to learn more about this deservedly multi-award-winning store in the heart of Amish Country.

Please tell us your store’s story.

Since 1881, our historic building has served the Intercourse community as a “general store.”

In 1978 it became The Old Country Store, specializing in handmade Amish and Mennonite quilts and crafts. Fabric, sewing notions, and quilting supplies were soon added, and the rest is history!

In May, owners Jan and Dean Mast will celebrate 10 years of ownership. They are quick to credit their entire team for the collective success of the Store.

“Feels like an old general store when you go in and from the moment you walk in, there are beautiful displays of quilts in the windows that give you inspiration! Everything is displayed beautifully, and there is a wonderful selection of everything quilting from patterns to the latest fabric lines. Also, a wonderful selection of gifts, items from local crafters, and quilts to purchase if you don’t sew. There is so much for everyone! Love it there!”

In closing

When asked about the impact of the Local Quilt Shop Contest, Jan said, “They say, “Iron sharpens iron,” and we know that working hard to keep our edge and do our best benefits our customers, students, and the entire quilting community. We are thrilled and honored to be among the best shops nationally. It spurs us on to keep ahead of trends, source the best products, listen to our customers, and keep on going for another 10 years. Our win is a win for all of The Old Country Store community!”
